In the last year, Smile at Strangers has become a fixture of London's acoustic music scene.  Their blend of soulful lyrics and mellow tones has established them as an original and very promising act, playing regularly at London's best acoustic venues such as the Bedford, and the the Regal Room.

The two-piece band is fronted by powerful lead vocalist, Katie Hicks, who moved to the UK from Vancouver Island, Canada a year ago in order to progress her music career.  Katie was a stand-out student of the renowned musical theatre programmes at both Acadia University in Nova Scotia and Sheridan Institute in Ontario, prior to performing for over a year in the lead role of cruise ship shows for Royal Caribbean International.

Her technical ability as a singer and outstanding stage presence is matched by the rhythmic guitar sounds and soaring harmonies of Simon Pollitt, a well-known singer-songwriter who has played at top venues throughout the UK such as King Tuts, The London Garage, Liverpool Barfly, Manchester Roadhouse, The Exchange Edinburgh.  Si has Enjoyed airplay and features on Radio1, Beat 106, XFM, Storm Radio, Wire FM and has appeared in Kerrang, NME, The Scotsman, Edinburgh Evening News, and The List.  He has supported The Stranglers, Rooster, Speedway, Grim Northern Social, 4 Star Mary, and played the unsigned showcase for MTV Europe Music Awards.

Together, Smile at Strangers have developed a well-honed acoustic sound that is gathering widespread acclaim, and in the next year they intend to close in on a major record deal.
