The Negotiation

Something scenic

presented by The Music Publishers Association and The Musicians Union
Time: 19 May 2009, 10.30am-12pm
Venue: The Prince Charles Cinema, 7 Leicester Place, London WC2H 7B

In partnership with London Songwriters Week, the Musicians Union (MU) and Music Publishers Association (MPA) are delighted to invite songwriters and publishers to The Negotiation.

The event provides the chance to see a mock negotiation on a publishing deal happen in real time. Audience members will be able to witness a songwriter on stage in discussions with a music publisher, and be able to view a sample contract and elements in that contract from a screen presentation. The songwriter will be played by the MUs Music Writers Section Secretary Ben Jones and the music publisher by Crispin Evans who has over thirty years experience working with some of the major players in the music publishing business.

Doors will be open from 10am for a 10.30am start. Post-negotiation there will be an opportunity for guests to mingle, chat and network over a few nibbles and refreshments.
